Time was, when forges, colleries, steelmaking and the spinning of man-made fibres provided the essential employment for the population of Pontypool. Over the last 25 years things have changed, but thankfully Pontypool is still a thriving market town. All is not lost in melancholy as amongst our places of heritage are the preservations of such landmarks as the Folly and the Grotto.
