About the Area
Chepstow is an historic market town with an imposing castle overlooking the River Wye. Founded by the Normans it was used as a base for the Norman conquest of South East Wales. The town was once surrounded by a 'Portwall' and the Town Gate still provides an impressive entrance to the main shopping area. (Davis & Sons office can be found situated just next to the Town Gate). In the 18~ and early 19~ centuries the town boasted a busy port and shipyards, buildings from this era are still in evidence today. Chepstow's central location makes it an ideal place to live in order to commute to major cities such as Cardiff or Bristol. It has excellent access to all motorway networks, such as M4, M5 and the new and old Severn Bridges. The town itself has many facilities from small quaint gift shops to large supermarkets. It has a variety of good schools both, private and state, a leisure centre with swimming pool and sports facilities. As it is on the doorstep of an area of outstanding natural beauty in The Wye Valley, it has may spectacular walks.
