About the Area
Blackwood has a rich and varied historic environment. Presently there are 362 listed buildings and structures within the borough. Blackwood also offers varied facilities including the local library, a range of schools & colleges, sports and leisure centres, supermarkets and shops. Surrounding Blackwood you will find open countryside. One of the country parks close by is Pen Y Fan and the pond is one of the last remaining canal feeder reservoirs, which is now the focal point of this country park. This is a popular family attraction, offering a safe flat open park for various activities i.e. flying kites. Anglers can also enjoy a day fly fishing or watching organised functions such as hovercraft races. Within a short drive of Blackwood is the Cwmcam Forest Drive offering 7 miles of forest and is a great family day out. Also to the north is Pare Cwm Darren which is a country park with mountain bike routes cycle track and a large lake. Also surrounding Blackwood are various industrial areas providing employment in varied industries. Road links to these areas are via new bypasses linked to the motorways. Over the last twenty years many new developments have been built in and around Blackwood offering a vast range of properties in all sizes and price ranges.
